Where have all the Monarchs gone?
As I mentioned in an earlier post this has been a strange summer. This was shot in the third week in August when I had quite a few Monarchs in my small prairie. I really got excited because the peak migration is usually the first week in September and I thought it was going to be a great year. Well the first week in September has come and gone and I didn’t see a single Monarch. I’m not sure what this means? I suspect they headed out early because of the cold weather. Has anyone else noticed a difference in this year’s migration?

Comments welcome.

Phil, Out here I have seen hardly any Monarchs this year. May be less than 10 to 15 in total. In a normal year it would be hundreds.

Something not quite right this year.

And Oh, that is one lovely shot with great sharpness all around.

Neat capture Phil. I've seen a few in our yard. Not as many as in past years, but a few to brighten up the landscape.

I'm not seeing any difference here, Phil. Nice capture and perfect DOF in this image.
