ID Help
I'm thinking yellow-rumped warbler, is that what you are thinking? I couldn't get a sight of the rump.

In brush trying to steal the red-naped sapsucker's sap and insects.

I'll reply with a sapsucker pic as a thankyou.

Bill,

Did you get any other shots of this bird at different angles?

The first is probably an immature Magnolia Warbler. I say "probably" because I can count on one hand the number of hatch year Magnolias I've seen, and have fingers left over. It's definitely not a Yellow-rumped, which in all subspecies has only a partial yellow chest and a broken eyering.

The second is an adult, male Red-naped Sapsucker, as I believe you said.

Yes Lia I did and here they are. By the way thanks for the ID. Wow, magnolia warbler eh!

I am finding that lots of small birds in Rocky Mtn natl park are varieties that I am not familiar with.

Fort Collins audubon folks are sure it's a yellow rumped warbler, so I searched my pics again and came up with this one which I think confirms that they are correct.

It looks like a yellow-rumped to me Bill.
