Stinkhorn
Found this on Saturday. You can smell them before you see them. Absolutely revolting. Also had to wait until it wasn't crawling with flies before photographing it. I know the background is messy but its the environment and too much to start cloning out.

Well taken Maggie, but you should have taken it when the flies were on it much more interesting IMHO.  There was a pre-emergent one at Speke Hall a couple of weeks ago when we were clearing the woodland of R. ponticum.
I photographed one there nearly three years ago with the flies see http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/bbs.cgi?a=vm&mr=12510&CGISESSID=5ea77c2493c4f7eb285aa12f3544774e&u=14201

You're right about the smell but the flies love it.

Hello Maggie.

Its a nice example of the Stinkhorn and I like the setting, but I'm affraid the bright piece of dead grass Top left is letting this down as it really pulls the eye. I think I would try and clone it out are at least darken it so it does'nt stand out so much.
