Dunlin
One from a couple of weeks back.
It was amazing just how close you could get to these birds if you took your time. After an hour of edging forward, I was in among the flock and could have reached out and touched them. I had to shoot birds that were a little further away due to the closest focusing distance.

Nikon D3
Nikon 200-400mm +1.4tc
640th sec
f16
640 iso
about 66% of full frame.

Cheers

Tony

Great fieldcraft Tony. might be tempted to slice a little more off on the LHS to remove the triangle of darker less well-focused feathers in the lower LH corner but it's a marginal call.

Love the composition here make's the image IMHO,the detail/light is stunning and just rewards for your hard work in getting this close and not easy edging forward for an hour!, well done on this very different, lovely image Tony  :wavey:

Graham, what will taking the TC off do to the closest focusing distance?

That's really good. Great detail, excellent bg and I like the way that the eye lines up with the back and leads the eye down through the shot. Really good work.

Great fieldcraft and an equally good result. These closest focusing distances are a real bind aren't they?
