Hi,
I am in the need of a calibration of my monitor, I have tried to do it without hardware, but not sure my monitor is right.
There are a lot of different hardware units, and I'm not sure Which is the best for an Apple Studio Display (21-inch CRT).
Any recomendation and info on this would be greatly apreciated.
I ordered my Monaco Optix tool and X-Rite software from them. Great service and competitive prices.

That monitor includes the internal ColorSync-based calibration system with lifetime color calibration that is supposed to be oriented to professional use.
What problems are you having? Monitor/print mismatch?

The problem is I'm using the monitor om a Windows based PC, and it seems that you can't use the Apple software for this monitor on anything but an Apple.
At first the monitor seemed really dark, After ajustment it's better. But I'm not sure it's set to show colours correct.
Thats why I want to buy a calibration colorimeter, but there are so many and I dont know which is better.

I thought the Spyder Pro 2 was pretty good. One of the odd things about this calibration game is when you have looked at an offcolour monitor for many months, when it does get correctly corrected it is very unsettling because you have got used to the way it was and not the way it now is.
I now use a colormunki because it calibrates everything. I am very far from an expert but this has been my calibration route and served me well. Hope it helps.

I've had good results with Spyder3 Pro. There's some software online that's supposed to be very good with it, from ColorEyes. They offer a free 10 day trial, which would be long enough to calibrate your monitor.

FWIW I did a search on this last week, and there was definitely a 'bent' towards the X-Rite i1Display2 over the Spyder3 Pro. This is just an observation, and I can't give you the technicals, but it was enough to sway my decision.

Kent, Would ColorEyes work with Spyder3Express? or do you need Spyder3Pro?
Also have anybody tried the Pantone Huey? the price on it seems very atractive.

I've been using the colormunki now for quite a while and results have been excellent.
It basically has all the technology from the i1Display2 plus some fancy new things.

I would not recommend Pantone Huey or Huey Pro. I have it, and it's just too basic, which is why I have ordered the iDisplay2

Thanks so far. Just got a few more questions. Seems so far X-rite iDisplay is a great piece of hardware, just wandering if the LT version would be ok? it´s cheaper than the version 2 and it seems as if the hardware in both are the same.
Also how is the Spyder compaired with X-rite ?

Thanks again for the info, just ordered the i1 display LT yesterday. Then I can allways upgrade the software if I need the more advanced software.
