One more from the series i took whilst up in Scotland. Another Guillimot. i like this one as it shows the white feathers.
There's a little cropped from each edge and about 10% top and bottom
ISO 400
SS 1/320
f/3.5
EV -1/3
400MM f/2.8
1DMKIII
All C&C appreciated.
Thanks

Nice capture Andy but for me it's a bit 'busy', nice detail in the eye, the bird in the BG is a little distracting, but I love the composition and very good vision to have seen this
I like these birds and they're always a pleasure to photograph. I'm guessing there are two birds here (correct me if I'm wrong) and for me the image is a little disjointed. The little patch of greenery doesn't help but that's beyond your control.
As Craig says, it's a nice spot and it lends itself well to the species.

Hi Andy,
As Chris says, here is not much you can do about that plant, but I do wonder about the white patch on the wing. It looks a little blown on my monitor. Is it possible to selectively burn a little more detail in?

Hi Chris, i think there may be two birds, but i hadn't spotted this until it was mentioned on here.
Hi David, when you say the image feels disjointed could explain a little (im not questioning your comment) as i think it will help me with future composition.
I have done very little PP to this so i will try some highlight recovery on the whites to see if the detail can be brought back.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, it's much appreciated

There's a lot I really like about this. The shallow DOF, the colours and lines in the background and the head of the bird poking out. If the second bird hadn't been there, this would have been an absolute stunner!

I am inclined to agree with Ian. The image has a lot of charm and I love that angle, it is a shame about the second bird, but i guess you weren't in a position to shoo it away lol. Well done.
