Flickr has been very good to me as well for image licensing. Congrats, Darren. I find it interesting that image licenses for magazines and posters like this are usualy "normalish" in re: to lighting. Dramatic light and long shadows have their place but not as many as more normal conditions where things are beautiful.
Congrats again,D.

John, I was recently contacted by Washington travel and tourism regarding an image that was used in their last mag. While I was talking to the lady on the phone she mentioned that she wished she could use all my pictures for the brochure and mag and I said well you can, she very politely said, no, they're too good....
I told her I had a friend who does quite a bit of work for Travel Oregon and the Boaters Association and he told me that they want shots that the average tourist will see....she said yep, thats what we need.....
I still have a hard time going and shooting that kind of stuff in the middle of the day with the direct sunlight but I guess if you want to sell more, that is what you need to do.....
it's a tough draw for me because I like doing what I am doing and I feel my images have a bigger impact on the viewer than the ones published in most mags.... One of my goals is to have the cover of an issue of Oregon Coast magazine and I am gonna be down in Southern Oregon for a week next week so Ill try to find some tourists type stuff to shoot for them....who really knows what people want....I sell more prints of stuff I would not buy myself but for some reason the general public seem to like them.....
Rick, thanks its a pretty good feeling to know my image is gonna hanging up there big as day....

Did Widmer pay you in beer, 'cause that would be sweet. Their Hefeweizen has got to be my favorite brewski of all time.
Major congrats.
