Get off its mine!! (+2new images)
As I was walking towards my front door today after returning from work, thinking about the photographic opportunities I may have missed,
I noticed this little drama going on in my twisted hazel bush.

I dashed in to get my camera and was lucky enough to get a few fairly decent shots, (though some may not agree :wink:) despite the windy conditions and bright sunlight.

It was quite comical watching them tooing and froing. In the end I left them to it, as my stomach was telling me it was time for a meal myself.

Hi Andy. Thanks for commenting. The thought had crossed my mind that they were male and female as the abdomen markings and colours are similar. See the two new images.

that's interesting David. I also wonder whether they are male and female as I've never seen spiders fighting over prey before. All very nicely taken shots by the way. Great DOF and lighting.

A very interesting set of images David, that has left us all wondering. Their colouring suggests they could be different sexes but I am no expert. Great work.

Hello David.

An excellent set of image here and I think if you change the order of the first two they would make an excellent series of images that would just follow on perfecly.

A nice set of images David. Good detail and BIF. I took a picture a couple of weeks ago (not posted) of 2 spiders of the same type fighting over a different spider (one with a very small body but extremely long legs) that was caught in the web. They were both trying to eat it. :wavey:
