Seas Seasons of Storms and Sunsets share a photo
Our ocean takes on a different character in fall and winter, the swells from the storms in the Gulf of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, march down our shores in rank and file and collide in fury against every headland. Sometimes the shows of spray and foam coincide with a fantastic explosion of color in a sunset. Palos Verdes is the closest headland to me and there are two truly awesome places to photgraph sunsets and waves. Royal Palms and Pt. Vincente. My photo was taken at Royal Palms when both swell and sunset combined. Olympus E-5oo Iso 100 F11 1/30.

Paul, I like the placement of the wave and the action-taking place in conjunction with this wonderful sunset along the Pacific Coastline here. To be honest, the only ocean type photography I have is from my days in Alaska along the Aleutian chain.

I bet the water out there is much colder in winter Paul. Out here I'm still always in shorts at the beach even in winter. That splash sure looks sky high!

Wow, another nice one here, Steve. Some good wave actions in both these scenes.

There is two spots on the Palos Verdes peninsula where a 8 ft plus Nw swell and the right tide conditions can cause Spray plumes up to what appears to be almost 100 ft. high. The BW gives some idea of scale at Royal Palms South Rock. Steve was your shot taken in Ventura County near Rincon? Nice image by the way. Aleutains? Breitkruz you lucky dog..well there are some nice spots for photos here in So Cal. and No. Cal as you can see.

Wow, I've never been out there. I hear it's good snorkeling spot some around there too.

I didn't know they have guysers at the beach. I think I'm liking the bw a little more.

That was taken at Point Mugu and there was a sigin out that day that said don't step out there. Could of used it as a fg prop.

Off topic there are some nice snorkeling spots along PV . Pt. Vincente Fishing access is one, it is a rather long walk to the beach but the parking is free, I've actually seen skin divers haul their equipment down to the beach, but you wouldn't have to worry about that if you were snorkel diving Steve.

Paul
Winter storms are coming and with them the NW swell.
