KAP = Kite Aerial Photography
Here's a shot I took from a kite today. My first time trying this. I used a Kodak m1033 point and shoot type camera. The kite was up about 500 feet. :rolleyes:

Very cool idea. There have been many times I thought it would be cool to have a 12 foot ladder, but this takes that idea to a whole new level. How did you aim and trigger the camera?

I don't know Dale, your horizon's a little crooked. :wink: Seriously, a great idea! Any thoughts on additional places to try this?

Haha. I've always wondered how I could replicate some of the cool aerial views I see in Google Earth. I've never heard of someone doing this. Very cool.

Details, details.

I use an Airtronics Remote Control, the same kind that is used to fly remote control airplanes, boats, and cars. There are many ways to do this. Some cameras have built in remotes in them which would lighten the load. I haven't gained enough confidence yet to put my Canon 30d or my Nikon D80 up in the air yet. You can learn more and see the many designs by searching KAP on Flickr.
I'll be going to Cripple Creek and Pikes Peak area for my next shoot. I have to work on focus and stability yet. Still experimenting :wink:

This sounds like a seriously fun style of photography! Looks like your initial trials were pretty successful from a technical standpoint; now you've got to try it over some more interesting terrain!

I look forward to seeing more of this.

Or take it to even a bigger level. Actually me a a few others are looking into doing this. We have only started the very begining planning.

Same principle but at 20 miles up instead of 500 ft.
