What Antlers are for....
50D, 400/2.8+1.4, tripod + BWG-HD
ISO1600 ( ), 1/2000 @ f8.
ACR5.3 resize & sharpen CS4
Full Frame.

Hi,

Obviously not for fighting and defending your harem, but for reaching those itches in the nether regions that you wouldn't be able to reach without them....

I am posting this mainly because I have been asked by quite a few people what I think of the high ISO on the 50D, this image is the result of a mistake, I had been photographing deer in the woods, and had upped the ISO to get a reasonable exposure, when I came out this character was performing and I forgot to drop the ISO again...

IMO the Raw files are very usable indeed provided the exposure is correct, the DR seems a little less than the 40D but not a lot less. Here I have run a small amount of NR via neat image on the bg only.

All the best

Phil :wavey:

LOL love the description of use for the antlers

A super image Phil, and a very impressive result considering the ISO.

A behaviour shot not normally documented .I thought it was just me that suffered with memory retention, but at least i get to meet a new friend every minute or so. It comes to us all Phil .Nice one.

You hit the nail on the head regarding the correct exposure - being as accurate as possible at high ISOs makes a surprising amount of difference.

Cheers,
Chris
