Little Grebe + repost
Hi All.. It has been a long time for various reasons, sorry. And I hope to be a bit more active from now on!

I have been watching this little one from a hide for ages now. and wishing it would come in just that bit closer as you do. Well it did, finally, and with lunch

It has had a crop around 40%, and I just wish I could have got that lower POV, but it is just not possible from that hide.

40D.300mm f4, 1.4t/c,ISO400,f9,1/400

Thanks for viewing.

Fran :toast:

You caught the moment Fran, not quite fran-tastic though need to take a chain saw to that hide for a better POV.

I agree with Tim, usually hides have a POV designed for bird watchers rather than photographers. I must remember to put a small saw in my rucksack...

You caught the moment well, Fran, but I feel a tad more contrast would be helpful here.

I have a place where I watch up to 6 of these from a raised hide and I have exactly the same problem as you. This is way better than any shots I've managed.

Nits covered but you got the timing spot on.

Cheers,

Hi Fran,

Lovely shot caught at just the right moment

Agree with David it could do with a tweak in contrast

They really ought to have flaps lower down in hides for photographers

Thanks all for your suggestions with regard to the contrast. Have upped it a tad and hope this is an improvement on the original.

By the way Craig, it isn't raindrops, but circles made from drips from the bird whilst struggling with it's huge catch:biggrin:

Regards to all,

Great timing, producing a very individualistic image IMHO.

I'm envious! It even has a fish! One of these appeared on my pond but nowhere near where it needed to be. I might go a bit darker on this one. I thought these were fish rising making for a very happy grebe.
