Another Painted Lady!
Another Painted Lady for the files. Thanks to those who commented on the previous two postings. I've been out the last four evenings trying to get different shots. I'm addicted to the place. I know that this is going to be a marmite shot and that some people will either love it or hate it. I think the very busy and cluttered background doesnt distract from the subject but I would be interested in what other people think. :toast:

Comments and crits welcome.

Ian

Hi Ian,

Sorry but I think the other shot was better  I find the background a bit overpowering in this one .

PS I hate Marmite

Hello Ian.

Not quite worked for me there just to much going on in the image.

I think if your going to do this type of shot and there do work well you would be better of shooting fully open to put as much detail on the butterfly and nothing else, where's F8 as brought to much else into detail. A good try and worth having another go.

I agree to an extent with both Ian & Guy but at the same time what does work about the image is that IMO it works quite well as an enviro shot perhaps.

Sorry Ian but agree with Ian and Guy. Your previous shot I really liked but this does nothing for me at all.

P.S. I love Marmite

Well I like this a lot, better than your last one, IMHO.  For me the butterfly stands out brilliantly.

Thanks David (and others)! Its four against one at the moment!! :jump:
I thought it might cause a bit of a north south divide. IMHO I thought the background was slightly too cluttered but like David says, the Painted Lady does stand out which is why I kept it.
Just a bit of fun anyway! and for the record I like Marmite aswell!!
Cheers all

I preferred your previous shot more than this one. I think the background is a bit too busy.

it's an attractive shot Ian, but I also think it would have more impact with less DOF. The butterfly looks a bit lost in the cluttered background.

I love marmite
