Rain on the Lost Mesa
Another from out on the open rangeland of southern New Mexico. Late afternoon thunderstorm was approaching and breaking up right at sunset. Within ten minutes of this it was all over light wise and rain wise.

I was working three cameras and captured it in 4x5 (still waiting on processing), an HDR with the 50D, and a quick snap from the LX-3. This is from that quick snap.

Man this is really sweet! Love the color, action and light in this frame. :toast:

I have enough trouble with one camera body let alone three at once!

Hard to imagine that any of the others could be any better than this one. Very nice.

Darren, the clouds and the light make this one for me. I will be out in southern Utah in early October and this shot makes me want to go even more!

look really good, I'd like to see how the other two shots compare. Ive tried juggling three cameras before, it can be a pain.

Excellent shot! I'm with Wayne, I have trouble enough with one camera!

Thanks.

You are right about working three cameras it is tough. Usually that means setting up the 4x5 on one comp and leaving it there. Hard to move it in fast changing light so it is best to anticipate and have it ready.

The 50D is easier to move around so I'll use it for different things. The LX-3 is really my camera for everyday situations where I want a camera but do not want to take the 50D. Since it is lighter and smaller than my lightmeter I can wear it around neck and get grab shots with it. Usually that might mean images of my 4x5 set up on location for my large format blog. But here I did a quick handheld shot. I think it turned out pretty decent. a little noise but acceptable almost film like grain to it. The 4x5 is really what I am waiting for.

Beautiful! The light "force" was with you! Let us see the others when you get them processed.

As always the axiom runs true: BE THERE !!!

The subtle pink of the falling rain adds ambiance.

The depth manifest by the receding clouds into the background accompanied by the prsence of distant mountains is very impressive. The circular flow of the dark clouds against the pinkish clouds also yields favorably and contrasts well with the angular forms of the mountains.

Nice!!!
