Osprey III
Ok this is the very last Osprey shot I post because I am sure you have had enough by now  Colin Crowdey commented on liking to see a tighter crop on just the action. Most of the time when a bird dived in the water it was much too close to get the full bird in the frame so alot of clipped wings was the order of the day but in a way these kind of work. Compression has blown some of the highlights but the detail is there in the tiff, honest Phil

Canon 1D MK11, 300mm lens, f2.8, ISO 200. Slight crop to the image.

Absolutely stunning shot, as is the norm with your work. However, on a personal note as much as I love the close-up action, I would like to see the image including the wing tips, but as I say I think that may be a personal thing. Saying that as a shot, this doesn't detract from the quality, well done.

Fantastic Danny. I would be happy with the shot of the fish never mind the Osprey  The detail is phenomenal. :wavey: :jump:

I never get tired of this kind of shot - love it - such a dynamic shot - has everything - and love the tight crop

cheers

I think we get too hung up on showing every square millimetre of our subjects with just the right amount of space all round. Cutting to the action as you have has made for a superb image. Who cares what the tips of its wings are doing when the detail, the eyes and the spray more than make up for them.

I agree with Eric. For me, the best shots were either with wings up or a close-up as here. I got this sequence too and didn't like the harsh light at first but as you've made it look half-decent (!!), I'll take another look! Good stuff.

A superb action/behavioural shot - I'm sure I felt a splash of the water when it came up on screen  :toast: :toast:
