Celebrity Polar bear!
Just spent the best part of two weeks with a wonderful group in the arctic where for around ten minutes, I had one of the most enthralling photography sessions of my life. Hidden away in a remote fjord out of season, it was hard to imagine that the images captured that day by our privileged group were anything but unique. But we live in changing times and only a week or so later, images of this bear (and several others) feasting on a dead whale, had hit the internet and subsequently the pages of the world's newspapers. Apparently we were not quick enough!

The physical world of the polar bear is changing but the technological world we all inhabit is changing too. A few more images shortly at www.northshots.com/blog

Arresting image.

I have seen similar ones put out about the start of August from Spitsbergen.. was the whale in Magdalena fjord?

Stunning experience - envious.

Hi Peter , super image and story to accompany it. Pleased you had a great time and fulfilling experience. However , there is a blue hue to the image and quick tap of auto colour in PS brings out more in the bear/whale and better contrast. Just a thought.....

I really like this image, it seems to tell a much bigger story than what you see in the image alone. It works for me, nicely captured.

A bit of luck for you and a huge slice of luck for the bear. I don't like the composition though. It just distracts from the real story.

:frown:

And thanks I had a rubbish couple of weeks at work

Seriously I'm glad everyone got to see some polar bears and to appreciate their predicament, just wish my own circumstances had not changed earlier in the year such that I had to abandon ship.

I'd say look forward to seeing more, but it will have to be through gritted teeth :toast:
