Silver Lake Directions and Head Count
Preston asked me to post some directions and a reminder of our get together on Sunday 10/4 at the Silver Lake picnic area starting around 11am. For those not familiar with the location, the picnic area is located 9.4 miles from the north loop entrance of 158 off of Highway 395. The 158 turnoff is a little more than 4 miles from where Tioga Pass hits 395.

If you're coming from the south, you may want to hit the southern loop entrance on 158. It's 6.4mi from 395.

Included is a GE overhead view of Silver Lake. I'm sure most of you are familiar with it.

HEAD COUNT: I know you've probably posted in another thread that you're going, but if you could add your name to this list if you plan on meeting everyone. Copy-n-paste the list in to your response and we'll keep a running tally. I'll start the list:

Preston Birdwell
Paul Breitkreuz
Lon Overacker

Looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new ones.

Mine's gonna be a last minute decision based on work. *fingers crossed*
Posted by Derek Sedillo on September 20, 2009 at 5:43 PM
Yeah, I'm in the same boat as Eric with a major release at work going on at that same time. But if I can swing it I'll be there. Otherwise I'll probably catch the next week or the one after that.

Hi all, count me in!
Was just up there this past weekend and the color was there, maybe a little scarce but workable so it should be plenty of color peaking during the get together. The photo here was shot in the upper elevations of the North Fork of Bishop Creek on this past Saturday morning (09-19-09). There were plenty of other larger aspens that were completely green right next to these so don't head up now expecting tons of fall color yet. This is just a report image so don't ding me on all it's lack of. Thanks guys, hope to see you all up there.

Have been out (non-photographic) for a while now, still catching up with the world. Same as Eric/Derek, my fingers are crossed with office work at hand. I am not sure if I can book a motel at this late. Anyone camping close by ?
Posted by Steve Sieren on September 23, 2009 at 9:40 PM
Yes, man. I have a site or a couple of adjacent sites that a few of us will be camping at in LV or June Lk.
Posted by Debjit Ghosh on September 24, 2009 at 12:14 PM
Ok Steve, I will ping you, probably mid next week, when I know for sure. By the way, should I book one now or do you guys a group reservation ?

Well, I haven't been around on NPN for a while, but I am packing my bags and camping gear for a trip up 395. Looking for camping, but arrival time depends on when I get off work. I don't know how hard it is to find camping in LV for a 9PM arrival on a friday night.

I guess I will try to be there at Silver Lk. for a lunch before the long trek south. It really comes down to getting off work at a reasonable time. I already booked a hotel for the following weekend, but its been a few years since I have been on the Eastern Sierras for a good fall shoot and I want to be there 10/4 weekend, too.

Tim 503-933-6232 - 75% chance I will make the trip

Maybe even cancel the 10th and head up tomorrow AND the 3rd/4th. If I go tomorrow it will be Bishop Creek.

Hi everyone,

My husband and I have just joined the NPN & CANP as members. We took snapshots all our lives, but we started learning about photography only recently. We got addicted to this and we are in to stay. We'll be on the June Lake Loop the other weekend and we are looking forward to meeting you all.

Looks like I will be able to get the time off work. So I plan on doing a father/son Fall Color trip. My son is only 8 y/o. So he will most likely be the youngest one shootin' the colors.

We will just be van camping in our dark Blue Sienna. With the middle seats pulled out we can sleep inside comfortably even if it is snowing outside, which it did one Fall up at the Maroon Bells in Aspen.

Sorry,
As it was forecasted, it snowed and I cannot make it. 120, 108 & 4 are currently closed. Need chains on 88 and on a 1 mile section of 395. The roads will most likly be clear in the afternoon, but that is too late for me to drive over. Hope you all have a great meeting.
