Wanted to try and portray the action, hustle and bustle of the flock here with this image and at the same time from a different POV,the sheer noise and movement was breaktaking. To obtain this shot I'd watched the day before and saw how they moved along the shoreline as the sea covered the land and there was a spot where the land stuck out and was one of the last spots to be coverd by the on coming tide. I got there in the dark on the second day having seen where I would position myself the day before,I lay with the shoreline to my front and as the sea came in the birds started to work their way towards me as I was flat with the shingle and this image I hope portrays that event, with birds coming into land, the different shapes and sizes it was amazing to watch. My focus was on this Knot,as he seemed to be on watch.

The idea has been done before, however the way you have tried a different POV has justified the image and you have pulled of a cracking image, well executed shot.

In the style of Danny Green I believe but very nicely done

Brilliantly anticipated and planned shot. You got what you were looking for, and having just the single bird standing out from the rest is excellent. It captures the mood of a crowded shoreline really well. Who cares if it's "been done before" or is "In the style of.X.."?

Brilliant shot Craig. Lots going on but the focal point is held well due to the shutter speed. Good POV and probably a little luck that no other Knot are standing up like the other is!

Just a brilliant shot Craig, I wonder where you got the inspiration from for the slow shutter speed, still an orginal shot in its own right.

Hi Craig
Over all, a good quality shot. I really like the bird on look out, in fact, it makes the image.
My only small nit is the comp - i.e. I would have liked to have seen a touch less shingle and a little more of the birds coming in to land (top). That said, the image still works well. Good field-craft.
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks For Looking
Love the contrast between the orange foreground and blue water behind and the solitary standing Knot just adds to it!
