Grass Snake
Here goes - for my first post on UKNP a shot of a very co-operative Grass Snake taken in my own garden. C & c welcome but please be gentle

PS. Taken with Canon EOS30D, Canon Macro lens EF 100mm at f/8, 1/60sec, ISO400

Superb from anybody - and a real stunner as a first post. I like the angle, the tongue flick, and the way you have handled that often very difficult creamy collar. Look forward to more postings from you.

Hi Jeff,
Fantastic first post! It would be good to include what equipment and settings you used in future posts to help people in their critique or to learn from it. I don't think there's anything you can do to improve this one though!

Hi Jeff

Hope you've got plenty of top images in reserve as you've set the bar very high for yourself with this opener.
Nice degree of motion in the tongue by the way.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks again for the welcomes and very kind words - all very much appreciated.

In response to some specific comments -

"Wow what a shot excellent first post Jeff. I had a look at your website too and you have some great stuff on there" - thanks for that Danny  I'm a great admirer of your own work and I regard your comment as very high praise indeed.

"Welcome to UKNP and nice to see you here (I recognise your name from WAB). A superb first shot. Look forward to seeing some of those Kingfisher shots" - thanks Matt, it's nice to see a familiar name and I'll certainly be posting some Kf shots - they're still my favourite subject and main interest

"Fantastic first post! It would be good to include what equipment and settings you used in future posts to help people in their critique or to learn from it. I don't think there's anything you can do to improve this one though! " - thanks Adam. I guess I should have thought of that and have since added the details.

"Hope you've got plenty of top images in reserve as you've set the bar very high for yourself with this opener. Nice degree of motion in the tongue by the way" -
Cheers Chris  and yes, perhaps I should have saved this one for later
