At the beginning of September, I visited National Park Hoge Veluwe with my family, to see red deer. Unfortunately the weather conditions were poor (showers), but despite of that, we did see a large number of red deer. There weren't many rut activities yet, but we could watch them from a rather close distance. A nice opportunity to take a couple of photographs of these beautifulful animals.

Agree with Jeff great colours and the composition is appealing. I think the shape of the background tree compliments the stags antlers.

Thats a fine image of a great looking stag.... nice setting too, the weather was just right for picturing these, I always try for dull or poor weather for deer.

Nice feel to the image largely down to the soft light. The heather's colour adds the finishing touches.

Chris

The veluwe is a stunning place the hides are brilliant for close views of the rut, if the deer are in the mood; same as Phil dull wet days can be the best adding to the atmoshpere.
nice one
