Des Moines river
Was in Iowa over Labor Day weekend. This shot is from Ledges SP, near Boone. This is the view from the outcrop on bluff off the lost lake trail. The FG rock is overhanging a 50-60 foot bluff. The view is up river to the North. Looks like with some fall color it could have some potential. 28mm 1/200 F9 ISO 100

My wife and I spent many an afternoon at Ledges State Park when I was at ISU. Sure brings back memories (most of them good  ). It might be the resolution, but the upper right branch looks like it's suffering from too much sharpening?

Sure looks like a late summer day in Iowa - thanks for the memory!

Thanks for the memories, as Arne said. It's been a loooong time since ditching Friday labs at Iowa State, and heading to the ledges.

Kendall, nice image. One suggestion is to crop it so there is only about one inch of sky above the tree line. It would seem to keep your eyes from wandering so much. I like the wide angle viewpoint. I have not been shooting much wide angle the last few years and plan on getting back into it. By the way, I hope to be around the forum more. I have not done much with it in a while.

Arne not sure about the branches as I didn't sharpen the image. I had thought about cloning them out or croping as David suggested ended up just posting it as it was because it gave me a better feel for the view that day.

I agree with cropping just a bit from the top, Kendall. Great view!

OK, this brings back memories for me, too, but I was hiking there on Saturdays, getting away from Drake... ;)

Looks like a great spot that offers some outstanding photo opportunities.

Lots of potential indeed, Kendall. BTW, it looks like there's a bit of haloing at the tree line in the background.
