Eastern Screech Owl
A co-worked has had up to 4 of these owls in her backyard for a few weeks now. I finally got over to see one of them. Naturally, the owl was buried in the tree. 50D, f/8, ISO 800, 1/200, flash

Did you want to go up to him and say, "Pardon me, can you move that leaf right in the middle of your face?" Cool shot anyway! Maybe you can go back and visit him again.

I had problems with hummingbirds landing on a "bad" tree limb. So I trimmed the landing area on that limb to offer a better shot. It worked!

I wished the owl would pay me a visit. Zack is right, he looks like he's up to something! Probably waiting for the neighborhood cat to walk out in a clearing.

I have a calender featuring animals in the wild that shows their hiding/camo character. I look upon this photo as a feat whereupon the photographer was able to discern the presence of the animal/bird. That isn't quite true since he was forewarned of their presence but it is still a lesson for the untold--look and see.

The light apparently made the owl squint. Give a cunning and knowing look that adds to the ambiance of the photo.

Sweet. I bet they enjoy the screeching all night.

Thanks everybody. Larry, you're right, I would have never found this bird without help. Even knowing where it was, I lost it a couple of times :).

I'm off for a trip to South Dakota for the next week. I'm hoping for lots of photo ops. I will also be meeting Lon at a craft fair he has a booth at.

Cool great catch. Man he is well hidden in this tree. Nice one.
