We've been contracted to photograph a large wedding in Portland OR in October. Rather than ship a bunch of our own lighting equipment, we plan to rent.

Does anyone know where we can rent studio-grade lighting equipment in Portland? We'll need a minimum of a 2400 w/s powerpack, preferably Speedatron Black Line, and 4 compatible lights. Truthfully a 4800 w/s pack would be better.

I can always rent from Glazers in Seattle and drive down, but it would be much more convenient to do so in Portland.

All suggestions appreciated!

I found Pro Photo Supply in Portland via the web. They've got a basic 2405cx three-light kit w/accessories for $80/day. Cheaper than shipping the same set from home and no chance (or should I say likelihood) of airline damage. Unless anyone has cautionary words, looks like I found a renter.

Thanks for the contact Kent!

Hank, I've rented equipment many times from Pro Photo, and have always been happy with them and their service. Its been quite a while, but if i remember correctly, their rental dept is closed on weekends. That allows you to only pay for one days rental, but keep the equipment for the whole weekend. You might fact-check me on that though.... probably worth a phone call. All in all, I'd say they are your best bet.

Thanks Aaron. That's useful feedback, and I'll double check. It's a Sunday afternoon affair, so that will be right up our alley.
