Ringed Plover
Hi all,

Another one from Ireland last week. Amazing how camouflaged these guys are against pebbles on the shoreline. Lying on jagged rocks and getting some very strange looks from passers by was worth it in the end as this individual came very close. Some harsh lighting, but I can't really complain, the weather was fantastic, much better than the usual gales and rain!

Thanks for looking,

Lewis.

Looks like you handled the light very well indeed, might be tempted to bring the whites up just a fraction more and perhaps a tad more room, (but it is fine for presentation on the web)..Like the setting and the head turn is just right.

The PoV works well on this one Lewis and there's just about enough sharpness at the bird's back end at f/10. The images 'flows' well because of the bird's position between the rocks.

Cheers,
Chris

It was worth the discomfort, and the odd looks from passers-by. I agree with Phil that the whites need to be brought up a little more, and perhaps a tad lighter around the eye as well, but still a superb shot.

Very nice image I do like the way that you have used the shadow.

A very lovely shot of a beautiful bird - the background and colouring of the rocks set it off nicely :toast: :toast:

Good use of DOF and the low POV works really well here.
Well done!
