I gave myself a summer homework assignment/challenge - to try and find (potentially) interesting wide-angle landscape images in and around my home town or East Lansing, MI, an area not known for its dramatic vistas!
I'm not sure what to make of this image and would appreciate any comments/suggestions. Michigan State University has miles of farmland used for agricultural research and teaching, and I found this scene along one of the university's back roads. A recent summer storm came through and created a temporary pond in the corner of a cornfield, and the evening light and clouds were interesting enough for me to tolerate the mosquitos long enough to capture this image.

I like the bottom third of the photo but the sky bothers me. I think with a more dramatic sky or a sky at sunset you would have a great photo. I would also like to see the trees in the background a little more off center. You might be able to crop some of the sky out and give it a panorama look.

Thinking a little more about the photo I think you might be able to work with the sky and blend the original and the second photo or if you took several shots one with a darker sky you could blend them. It is definitely worth working on this photo.

Thanks for the feedback, Phil. The light here was behind me with the light on the clouds and the cornfield, and the reflections in the water only lasted a few minutes. I tried moving the tree clump off center but couldn't move it far enough to make much of a difference. I'll check the originals for a possible merge and/or will work on the sky as you suggested. Thanks again, I really appreciate your input.
