I recently upgraded from Photoshop CS to CS4. I run both of them under Vista. I've been experiencing a number of problems with printing under CS4 that I never saw under CS. I'm printing with an Epson 7600 printer.
A number of times I've sent something to the printer and it never prints yet it disappears from the print monitor. That's merely annoying.
This morning I was trying to print a 19"x24" print on roll paper and it kept printing an inch of the print and then ejecting and cutting 19" of paper. I tried turning off the computer and restarting but that that didn't help.
I quit CS4 and loaded CS and as I type this, the photo is printing properly.
Has anyone ever heard of this madness? Is there a fix for it?

After reading this post, I am happy that I kept CS3 on computer. I am finding little issues like the clone stamp and feathering selections as issues. Wondering what has happened at Adobe.

Unfortunately, no. I have had zero problems printing from CS4. Of course, I only had Elements before, and I still have QImage that I use as well.
Perhaps having older versions installed is a problem? I've heard of some cases where people had to run the Adobe cleaner programs to completely rid the machine of older versions, in order to get good installs of newer tools. (Although I think that only applied to Beta an demo installs, it might be more universal.)

John,
Thanks for your suggestion, but the latest driver that Epson has is from 2/07. My driver is current.

Can't really help you Dan but I can co-miserate!
I have PSCS3 running on my Mac and when printing to my Epson 9600 from CS3 using the Epson driver (dated 2007--most recent available) I get incredible banding and bizarre gaps in my prints. Its so bad that I thought my printer had gone belly up! However, when I print the exact same file from ImagePrint (running from a virtual Windows machine on my Mac), it comes out beautiful.
I think Epson doesn't continue to upgrade printer drivers because they expect us to plop down $2500-$5000 every two years to upgrade our printers instead! I guess those of us with ancient (3+ year old) printers are SOL!

I am sure you have explored this already, but I had a similar issue with CS3. Turned out my printer setup, where I selected the paper size, was not correct. I mixed up the width and height numbers and it was only printing one inch on the side for some reason. It is worth a quick double check.

Dan, I had almost the same problem but with a HPZ3100 printer. With CS4 I was gettting and 1" strip of print, but the whole print area was laying down gloss optimizer. With CS2 it printed perfectly. I finally resolved the problem with a print driver update (the old driver was only 6 months old).

I've had better results and fewer problems with CS4 than I had with CS3. Then again, I switched to a Mac and that may have something to do with it. (not saying that Mac is always better - there are some things I like better about Windows).
