Mute Swan in flight
OK not 100% about this one.. So thought you guys and Girls will be honest (gentle) with me..

Taken today at Amwell NR

1DMK3 (Firmware 1.2.3), EF500 + 1.4x, ISO640, 1/1250th sec @ f11, resting on hide window frame, Full Frame.

Processed in LR and CS4.

Why firmware 1.2.3, well a bit of an experiment as from another bird forum some have reverted back to 1.2.3 and after all the fixes are finding they get better results on tracking with 1.2.3 now..... and you retain the CF menu changes that 1.2.5 gave the camera (it does not seem to remove them ?)....... So I thought give it a go, now probably the placebo affect but I tracked this swan from way out as a dot with just the centre point right up to taking this image...... I will keep at it for a few days then go back to 1.2.5 again to see if any difference...

I quite like this Peter - a nice diagonal composition, good head and feather detail both along the body and especially in the wings and just enough blue in the sky to make the dull colouring of the bird stand out. Well caught :toast:

Nice image. A lot of details in the feathers.
