With the recent snowfall I'm thinking now would be an optimal time to photograph the Maroon Bells. Does anyone know the current conditions of the fall foliage there and how much snow is on the peaks?
I'm probably going to head up Wednesday at 8pm from Denver and sleep in the car overnight for a sunrise shot. I might have a spot available if anyone wants to join me or follow along in their own car.
Thanks!

Jason, will you be planning on coming back on Thursday? If so what time do you think you will be heading back?
I'm coming back Thursday but I haven't decided a time yet. If the conditions were right for shooting I'd probably shoot around areas on the way back to Denver.

I might be interested in joining you if the offer is still open, I would be happy to split gas and other expenses. I wont know for sure until I get to work tomorrow though and ensure I can take off Thursday. Let me know what you think and I will confirm things tomorrow.

I just got back from 3 days in Aspen. Conditions were fantastic this morning; 2 inches of fresh snow fell overnight. There is a lot of green still at the lake elevation (9600 ft) but up higher it is closer to peak. I imagine if the snow doesnt change things peak will be a week or so from now. As nice as it was, the aspen leaves have many black spots at the Bells, so the color isnt as good as ive seen in previous years. The east side of Independence is much cleaner, as is up-valley from Aspen. Ill post some shots tomorrow afternoon in the main forum.
