Excellent interview Jim. I enjoyed listening to it last night and this morning.

Excellent! Darwin is a personal favorite. He is beyond gear!! Like my hero Henri Cartier-Bresson. Only difference is that HCB seems to have never been in love with gear whereas Darwin went through the stage that most of us did (or to an extent never completely leave) of loving it. "I care nothing for photography, its life that interests me." HCB (Only someone of his stature and Frenchness could possibly get away with a quote like that.
The interview also reminded me of what Galen Rowell said late in his life: something to the effect of "I traveled the world looking for places to take great images only to realize that they can be made in my backyard."
Also Robert Rauschenberg who pitied people who hated fire hydrants, coke bottles and advertising billboards -- he said something like -- its sad because most people are surrounded by these things everyday. He used the world in his art and feared only one thing: that he would run out of world! And of course he never did!
