Just returned last night from the art festival in Jackson. Its been quite warm in the day (70's) and the nights have been running in the 30's. The leaves are changing and will probably peak early next week. Several aspen stands around the Oxbow are already peaking.

For those interested in wildlife there are several Bull Moose along the Gros Ventre River. The largest Bull I sighted was in the Gros Ventre Campground by Kelly. Also there are two fairly large Bull's hanging around the Oxbow. Each morning I spotted the bull in the open sage coming into the campground at Gros Ventre.

Moose Wilson road has a bumper crop of berries this year. We saw a black bear sow with one cub and another with two. Also there's a smaller bull moose hanging in the area.

The scenic shooting was not good. The peaks were void of snow and there is a fire burning above Kelly. First light was real weak and not much in the area of clouds.

There were no Grizzly sightings that I know of. There probably still in the high country.

If your going up I would advise you to go the Rock Spring route. I spent 45 minutes sitting on top of the pass heading over to Dubois.
The construction is worse than it was last year.

Thanks for the great update Don.

There's at least 3 fires going on right now that I know of. When I was there last weekend, I noticed that the sunrise light was not quite as intense ... but the smoke in the sky also produced some soft warm light throughout the morning. Kind of glass half full, if you look at it that way.

The construction/delays between Teton/Yellowstone are also horrendous, FYI.

Thanks for the update Don. On one hand, I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for a storm to roll through in the next week, but I'm also afraid that it would blow down all the leaves!

And thanks to both of you for pointing out the traffic gotchas!
