Trouble downloading update for Capture NX to a mac

Hi folks

I recently installed the Capture NX software that came with my D300 and then found it needed an update. I cannot seem to download the update from the download on Nikon's website, to my Macbook Pro - anyone else have problems or can someone explain the process for downloading this update to a mac? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I thought I had it downloaded but then when I tried to open it, it said I had to choose something to open the folder with, and I didn't know what to choose.

Thanks for any help with this!

Is the download a .sit file? If so, you probably need StuffIt.

Hi Mark

I have "Stuffit" on my mac so if it needs that program it should open ok. Not sure what the problem is - I also realized it has .dng on the end of the file name.

Sorry, my bad - file ends in dmg not dng!

Also, when I open Capture NX it says there is an update for the program - when I click on the link it starts to download, then an error message from Nikon message center says it "couldn't download the update and to try again later".

Hmmm. Getting frustrating - this update fixes the problem with seeing images shot at the slower ISO settings on D300!

Thanks again for any help, suggestions, etc.

Hi Marcy,

A .dmg is a disk image. You should be able to right click on it and select open with DiskImageMounter. I'm surprised that's not the default.

[Edit] Maybe there was a problem with the download. It sounds like your Mac isn't recognizing it as a valid disk image.

Cheers,
Mark

Ok, let me give that a whirl and see what happens. Thanks, Mark!
