I am asking for all who care to express their opinion on these 4 shots I took 2 weeks ago. I am often overhwelmed by color and since that is my first responder when I decide to shoot something, so much of the time, I wonder if I include enough structure in the comps to fuse the color into something cohesive. Your input is greatly valued, and my thanks.

And #4

I really like #1, not so much the others. I also like colors, and the three color layers in #1 look great. Thanks for posting.

I'm with Momo, #1 grabs my attention the most - #3 and #4 feel a little too busy. Great colours!.

Another fan of #1 because of the composition/vertical format and the variety of colors.
The two small pines in the midground are a nice addition, as well.
The horizontal formats don't work for me at all.

Morris, another vote for #1 and #3. You might consider a tighter crop to a little bit above tops of small pines to focus more on the colors while preserving the contrast of the background.

my vote would be #1 after cropping off the top 1/3.

#1 has enough structure/layering to hold my interest. And another vote for cropping some of the pine area, if not even a square crop.

#1 for me -- I don't mind the full image, followed by #3.

Morris,

I like #1 very much but it looks a nip yellow to me on my monitor.

Another vote for #1, but I think a crop from the top would help. Right above the small spruces.
I know where you're going with this concept, Morris. I'm reading a couple of books right now on drawing and landscape painting. I'm trying to improve my ability to see and to organize an image and this is something accomplished painters and drawers (is that a word?) are good at. I'm learning a lot.

Funny, #1 is my least favorite, although if you cropped the top id like it much more--ide rather see 2/3 warm, 1/3 green. #3 is by far my favorite; it has the most variety in color, a nice comp in thirds (2/3 bright, 1/3 dark) and a very nice pyramidal shape. Go figure. :wavey:

#1 followed by #3.

I really like #3. Your eye seems to focus on the orange/yellow colors more.

Thanks so much everyone for your input. Sorry these didn't post any better, but there are too many details, and uploading to the web murdered the shots in compression.

I have to go with #3 here, and I'm not tryin to be different.
