Shortly after the Lesser Whitethroat appeared, this little beauty turned up and tried to “kill” the thistledown. I realise that the BG is messy, but the other shots I had were of sky through a hawthorn hedge, and were even busier.
All and any C&C welcome

The background is a little messy, but it suits the subject and does not worry me in itself. For me the difficulty is in the way the bird blends into the background. I suggest upping the contrast and saturation a little. If you do this in a separate layer, you can avoid doing it to the background as well.
Still a shot I would personally be very pleased with.

Thanks for the comment David. I've changed both a little, but maybe too much saturation now.
I know what you mean about blending though, it was OK following the bird, but if I lost it I had difficulty finding it again.

Yes, maybe a little too much the other way now - but its getting there. I have trouble getting it right as well - as many comments on my pictures go to prove!

Hi Mike,
a nice shot of a bird in its enviroment so the background is not a trouble
As for the edit one in between would be better
