What do you do when an editor wants to use an image of yours (paid or unpaid), and you want to move forward with it. I don't worry much about it with the bigger magazines I've worked with, but should I do anything for legal/safety considerations when it's a smaller, international magazine? I guess I've gotten paranoid. Anyone have a sample simple contract I could use as a basis?

I can send you the asmp invoice contract. The key is to get in writing whether that form or pay pal invoice /email which I prefer.
The ASMP contract should suffice. If you need to modify it, I suggest you run it by a lawyer to be sure it protects both parties and is of correct legal form.
Just to be safe, don't do any contractual agreements via e-mail: Print out the contract, be sure to sign it and then mail or FAX it. The other party should do the same, in return.
