Finally
Hi guys,

Sorry for not being around much. I moved from my place to the forest and I smell, I'm having a beard and I'm very very tired. But finally I have the shot I wanted. Well....almost. I was after a shot like this when he's roaring so I'm not finished completely. Rut is still going on so I have a few more days.

iso 200 1/125 sec. F5.6 full frame from self build hide.

The subtle changes in colour give this an amazing depth. Until you reach the red of the sun it looks like a sumi-e painting. I love it. :toast:

Has anyone tried roaring to see if they respond? Is it allowed/acceptable?

Mike.. I roar a lot  O yes it does the trick but just to get their attention. You will not lure them towards you. I also immitate the sound which a calf makes to communicate with his/her mother. This works better. You must know what you are doing and when to stop. I just use it to make the deer look straight into the camera not to make them mad or to confuse them.
