High above Lee Vining Canyon sits one of many of CA.'s gold mines; rich in history and ore. We spent half the day exploring the surrounding area yesterday afternoon and not nearly enough time at the mine itself. There's some beautiful aspens at peak color around the mine site. This old structure was located on the perimeter of the site amidst these turning aspens. I wondered what tales this building might tell as I framed this shot.

The day's excursion can be read here.

Very Nice Cory, old buildings and weathered wood always make a nice BW subject.

Cory, some amazing history throughout that entire region. This old cabin and off course the stuff out at Bodie could share volumes of stories. Thanks for the post and the blog link too.

Love the subjects and comp. Might be my mind shifting into fall mode, but I might prefer the color version on your blog. Not to say this version isn't nice, but for me there's something about the fall color and warmth of the wood I like.

I love the strark contrast Cory, it's gotta IR feel to it except it's better since it doesn't have all the graininess.

thanks steve. I printed this out yesterday and it turned out great. I'm amazed at what my little 3800 can do for b&w.
