If anyone is bored and cares to look at my website,

http://www.wildwestgallery.com

I would appreciate any constructive criticism.
I have spent several weeks working on the photos, and am ready to go shooting.
Thanks.

This is going to sound like an odd complaint, but I think the photos, while spectacular, are too big. I don't like having to scroll to see part of a photo that's too big to fit on the screen all at once. I also think the caption text below the photos is big and blocky, betraying the amazing artistry of your photos.

Some real terrific stuff, Momo! Looks pretty good to me. The photos fit pretty nicely on my screen so im not sure i totally agree with Todd, although i think the borders are a bit wide. Maybe a little smaller overall would be perfect.

I, too had to scroll to see the whole image....rule of thumb here is you should size image to fit average viewer screen (most are at least 17" these days so 8x10 should work pretty well. Overall, it looks pretty good.

OK, that sounds good. I now have 3 new versions of a photo page (see below). It would be nice to hear some opinions on which version you like best.

original:

version 1

version 2

version 3 (I prefer this one to all)

I really enjoyed browsing your galleries, Momo.

I also prefer the thin black border in version #3.

The image size is fine on my high resolution monitor, however, on my older desktop which is used for internet browsing, the 1024 x 768 does require vertical scrolling and that does detract from the great images.

I hope you get a bunch more to add from the fall trip.

I like your gallery, Momo!
Simple and clean, with some fine images to boot. The grey mottled background looks real good to me.
I also vote for a thin black border. Image size is fine once you do away with the elaborate framing.
Under the 'Prints' page, you use a blue type to denote a link, and that type is simply unreadable against the grey background. You might also consider using the term 'Images' rather than 'Photos' in your title page ('Photos by...').
Did you construct this yourself?

Momo, very nice gallery and wonderful photos, I had no trouble viewing them.

Nice Momo! I agree with the comments about the borders being too big. I prefer the test version three with the thin black border.

By the way, you can save yourself tons of time if you just put that border on the images via CSS. It's super easy, then you won't have to add the border to all your images, now or in the future.

Momo ... amazing collection!! There are some unique photographs in your collection. Another vote for the 3rd version with thin black border. It compliments your design... compliments the border of your buttons and title. :toast:

You are a very good composer. Small borders on the images would look better IMHO. Overall very nice site!

Thanks everyone. It seems that I just need to remove the frames and change the text (as in example #3), and the rest looks OK.

Jack, I don't know what CSS is.

John, I constructed the website myself using Frontpage 2003 and Frontpage 2003 for Idiots.

Thanks everyone again.
