Is my shot a conservation image? Only if you visit the above wedsite and do your bit. Did the young lad get to see a dolphin? You'll have to wait and see. How about his children and future generations, will they get the chance to see them? Maybe that is up to us?

1ds3, 300 mm, 1/1600 @ f/3.5 ISO 400 - C&C welcomed.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Not enough nature in this one I'm afraid... Please stick within the boundaries of the forum guidelines in future.

Thanks

The mods.

After spending the best part of 3 summer days on a damp, cold and mainly dull Scottish beach after dolphins, I arrived home with next to nothing I'd set out for photographically.

A steady stream of visitors came to the beach and most went away without seeing anything. Many came back again and for those 'lucky' ones, the ones who persevered, the reward was, at best, a brief glimpse of a very enigmatic animal. The brevity and infrequency didn't seem to matter - the excitement generated by the arrival of the passing dolphins was palpable.

Finally, an extended view . . . cheers, laughs, shrills, oohs and ahhs accompanied the one and only hunting session I witnessed - one of the dolphins ate its way through a large salmon, tossing it around to break off manageable chunks; the crowd was mesmerised and elated. Just brilliant.

With that shot in the bag, I changed tack and went for people focussed images. Looking at the pictures last night, and talking the experience through with my wife, she insightfully informed me I'd actually got a lot more from the trip than I’d bargained for!
