nice image Jack but wonder whether you need a little more room on left side, tail feathers feel cropped.

Stunning shot Jack. I see where Ben is coming from poss a little more space to the left. The Black Guillemot is one of my favourite birds - well done.

thanks for the comments all

Ben, Steve - is this any better, i ummed and aahed about which one to post anyway and never really decided between the two, they're not very different but the second one is perhaps a bit better on the tail

Both are very, but my preference is for the first, excellent detail, great pose and a fantastic bg.

Well done.

Both are excellent Jack and to be honest I don't have any problem with the first.

Hi Jack,

Lovely shot and another vote for the first post, the second looks a little unbalanced with the bird looking out of frame IMO.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Really cracking exposure. I would love to have either one.

What a great bird and Image. Well done. Like both but I understand the nit mentioned. It doesn't bother me much. Great detail and exposure.

Superb image Jack, very well executed and I to like the comp of the first and the closeness of the tail doesn't really bother me as the images is all abut the action around the head and beak.. Nice work.

I would have left as was and cloned out the small piece of vegetation in the tail area, in the second post you now need more space on the right.

From both a personal view point, and a commercial one I think you need more at the bottom, and less at the top.

Still an excellent shot, exposure is particularly well handled.
