Although I live close to good locations for these birds I must confess to not having specifically targeted them, and as a result the few images I have on file are pretty poor, opportunistic shots. Last weekend whilst sitting on the cliffs watching this years seal pups a few birds passed me and the result was a bit more pleasing than previous occasions. Weather was dull and once again not ideal.

Great detail in a black bird, and a good flight shot. Do I gather these have a fairly predictable flight? If not, to get a flying bird with a 500mm lens is a fantastic achievement. Well done.

One of the best flight shots I've seen of these despite the lighting.
Nicely done

That is one high class shot, Robert. You have handled the blacks well, and simply to get it in the frame is no mean achievement!

Hello Robert.
Excellent shot and love the detail in the wings.

That's a cracking shot robert. One or two jaggies showing around the edge of the bird but that is probably compression?
I always think that dull light can produce some lovely detailed shots and this is a fine example. Eric
