Please View Big

On the way to the Chilterns I stopped off at a Gravel Pit and it was very misty, so much so that the images from my 400 prime looked soft and lacked any contrast. So I put it down and started shooting with my Dads very old and cheap 35-80 wide angle and I am really impressed with the images. The sharpness is poor but I love the colours so any C&C appreciated.

Very,Very 'arty' Liam and it works very well for me,bags of atmosphere and I like the shadow's of the tree line and the pastel colours work well, your images of late show a uniqueness and a brillant vision, keep that going Liam   :wavey:

I think it definately works although I would be personally inclined to add the tiniest of contrast just pick the details of the trees up more. Very nice though and it works well as is.

I suspect this image will look better bigger. I like the effect and I look forward to checking it out at home as at present I'm looking at it on a very poor works monitor. Just goes to prove that you don't need expensive kit to produce good images.

Like this a lot! Love the atmosphere!
Do think a little more contrast to bird and trees would improve this one.

I like the atmosphere but can't get past the extreme brightness in the top left corner. Sorry.

Nits covered but I really like the style of this type of work.. full of atmosphere as mentioned and with a little more work it could be really something.

Sorry Liam, it doesn’t work for me needs a focal point of interest.

Absolutely love it Liam. Reminds me of a Vincent Munier type of shot.

Only thing I would change is trying to increase the contrast of the bird to help it stand out at which point this would be outstanding!!!!! well done :toast: :toast:

Thanks for all the comments, it really is appreciated especially for the critique.

The lack of contrast is because of the lens it really is cr*p, going to buy a new wide angle when I get paid. But I decided to re-edit form the raw file to see if I could improve it, how does this look..

I plan on printing this out very big soon, probably my favorite image at the moment. I have one more to post from the same morning where the Grebe is a lot closer which has a more of a focal point.

Liam,

Wonderful shot. Have you considered a letterbox aspect, that may help to draw attention to the grebe.

Actually looks better on my monitor at home. Is definitely the kind of image that works best as a print, maybe on canvas for even more texture.

Atmospheric, I like the subtle tones here. Tristan
