Alert Dipper
One from yesterday at Bradford Dale.

Upon arrival posted all over the place are posters warning photographers to respect the Dippers and not disturb them.

So we follow a man and his dog all the way up the river and the dogs in the water all the time. A while later having sat down and found a Dipper to shoot around 30 kids all in wellies complete with school teacher wade up the river making enough noise to wake the dead

Result one Dipper in hiding :frown:

A great angle on this one Ian. Even though nearly central the comp works well for me as I think all the elements within the image need to be there to complete the picture.

Hi Ian,

I thought the warning messages might have been up. Photographers often get such a bad rap.

I was up on Curbar edge - looks like I made the wrong choice :-)

Lovely detail in the face. Reminds me of a guillemot for some reason. The green of the water is just as I'd imagine it.

Lovely image Ian, the eye contact is great. It's always us photographers who get the blame :argue:

Lovely image of one of my favorite birds Ian , I have just wrote an article+images for this months Birdwatching Magazine, covering just this very subject and had some great feedback from it so my heart goes out to you,but the more people know the more something may be done about this issue, very nice image   :wavey:

Cracking Dipper image Ian, I really like the alert pose. I have seen simlar things happen at a Dipper site. People with cameras myself icluded always seem to sit quietly sometimes for hours at a time & then get accused through the press of causing a disturbance. I too have seen dogs running through the river at a site where signs are up asking owners to keep them on a lead so that they dont disturb these birds.

Well done for getting the message across Craig
