You don't have to drive a thousand miles to shoot good fall color. Sometimes you've just got to look in your own neighborhood. Couple of quick digital snaps. Shot quite a bit of 4X5 today.

The canyon maples have a wonderful range of colors from nearly butter cream to lemon-lime. This one is somewhere in the middle.

Think the first one might be a little dark. What do you think?

How bout a take 2 on #1

Very nice, Mel!
If you haven't had a chance yet, take a look at Old Stage Road up towards the Broadmoor riding stables. I was up there a few times last week, and there are pockets of nice color on the west side of Cheyenne Mtn. If you hike the MacNeil Trail, you will end up in some of those pockets. I only had my P&S camera the last time I went, but I'm going to go back up there when I get back home.
Love the original of #1 - I think the lead-in line works better with slightly more contrast between highlight and shadow towards the right hand side (which I'm missing in take #2). Lovely image either way, though.

Wonderful colors with a great lead-in to that fine reflection.
