Kingfisher face on
It's been a couple of weeks now with this beautiful female. I only get a couple of days off a week so it's taking a while to build up the relationship. It's the highlight of my week though!

This Wednesday I was able to get quite close and managed some side on portraits. The overcast day worked well to keep the whites around the cheeks down too.

I wondered what people thought of a face-on view. Whether or not it's a pleasing way to view their face, it's fascinating to see how their heads are shaped to maximise their forward-facing vision for diving head first.

Thanks for your interest.

lol I don't think I've ever seen a photo of one with a turned head like that - looks very funny

Very well done Chris, love the colors across the whole image and the face on view is very interesting.

I like the overall image chris but I don't think that face front pictures of birds work very well aesthetically and this is a case in point. If its head had been turned it would have been much more appealing. I don't know why it should be so as, generally speaking, images of mammals face on usually work very well.

Nice colours comp & bg. Nice to see one face on but i think they are more attractive side on.
