I was looking at the 80 GB Hyper drive at $250.00. Are there any less expensive storage devices out there?

I hope you meant 800 GB! Yes, there are. One terabyte (1000 GB) drives from Western Digital and Seagate can be bought for as little as $105 - $125.

Philip,
I mean portable storage for the CF cards from your camera that you can use to download in the field like the 80 GB Hyperdrive not computer backup drives.

Like Philip, I first thought you were talking about backup drives. But I'll pass along an insight garnered from using both backup drives from WD and portable storage from Epson. If you're using Mac, pay extra for a firewire version if you can find one. USB2 will make you NUTS, it's so slow to download to the computer. After using firewire drives, both the download devices and backup drives that use USB2 to talk to the computer are intolerable. I'm considering a new download device or two, but will not buy USB2 under any circumstances.

I have an hyperdrive space and have been very happy with it. It does not have a color lcd but backs up very fast. The best deal is to find one without a hard drive (case only) then buy whatever size hard drive you want and put it in yourself.

there website

Nah, but thanks anyway Mike. They're loaded and sitting in one of our safety deposit boxes as part of our permanent storage scheme. We got them from Costco for not much over $100, and as I recall their either 350gb or 500gb. We pay a little more for firewire buying direct from the WD site now, but for our daily use drives they're priceless.

Hi Folks,

I`ve had a 120GB Hyperdrive Colorspace for 2 years now. No problem at all!!!! It has a colorscreen as well.

I`ve just ordered a Colorspace UDMA casing from https://www.hypershop.com/ and then bought a 500GB WD 2.5"SATA drive to install myself. Since my current 120GB is just about full I`ve ordered another 500GB to install. The nice thing is that although my current setup is 2 years old I can still upgrade to 500GB by just plugging the 2.5" drive into it.

INHO this is definitely worth it`s weight in gold!!! And I carry it EVERYWHERE since it`s battery is recharged everytime you connect it to the computer. And if you happen to lose the cable. That is not a problem since 99% of available USB-miniUSB fits on it.

Finally. These people mean business. I ordered the drive in the morning and it arrived in South Africa in 48 HOURS!!!!!  Then took 3 DAYS to get to me
