Today was NPNNAD. I had planned for the last few weeks to be out at Tandy Hills Park in in Cowtown and had even arranged for several other photographers to join me. It started raining last night and this morning I awoke to heavy rain still going on. I was not about to miss out do to a little rain so I made it out to Tandy Hills Park about 6am. My thought had been to photography at night but the rain made for poor images on what I tried. One other friend made it out and we stood in the rain waiting for some light. After 7am we were able to work more with the wet conditions we found. The hills had a mixture of late summer blooms and some early fall colors and we walked and photographed as best you can in rainy conditions.
After a couple of hours in the mud and muck we had made a few images and decided to go get some breakfast, so off we went to Fuzzys Taco Shop. After being out in the rain for about three hours it was nice to getinside to someplace warm and dry and even better with the migas!
Here is the first of a few images. This was trial conditions-it was a stream with 4" of water in it.

....But we did not let mud and water stop us. We hiked on and found hills and streams to photograph.
Here is a hillside trail. Probably the best image I had to fit the theme of the day.

Here is what it normally a dry streambed. Now its a good jump to get acrosss as it is deeper than most boot tops.

So after a few hours in the rain I had a few images and then I got a hot plate of food. Not too bad of a day. Cannot be in Big Bend every day but at least I was able to get out in the elements and be in my element.
I like #2 (I really like the placement of the trail in the frame) and the last shot. You are definitely a dedicated shooter. Think I would have crawled back into bed with conditions like you had. Way to go! Glad you got out and enjoyed nature today.

Hey Darren, somedays it is just nice to be outside. My favorite is the Tree in the Rain photo. By the way, I enjoyed reading your articles on NPN.

Well I'm glad to see that the rain didn't dampen your photographic spirit Darren. Thanks for being the impetus behind today's country/world wide nature appreciation day.
