I just returned from a weekend trip with the family to Ridgway. They hadn't seen the Sneffels range in the fall and I wanted to share that with them. Unfortunately, things had declined rapidly after what people apparently experienced mid week. There was still some nice color on the east end of the range around CR5 (near the meadow and looking east) but the scrub oak had lost it's luster and a lot of leaves were down.
However, coming down Monarch pass about 10am, we were presented with some wonderful, vibrant colors! Luckily we drove two cars because I ended up working Monarch Creek and Chalk Creek until about 4pm.
So I wanted to let you know that the Arkansas valley still has some nice color, especially the cottonwoods!
Here are a couple of teasers...

The cottonwoods along Monarch Creek - these were today.
Compression is killing me - and this is about 1/4 stop dark.

Very nice Kalin!
Yeah the cottonwoods here in the Gunnison area are still nice in many areas, too. Saw some really nice patches of color around the Blue Mesa.
Love the 1st one.
