Bears at RMNP
Here's a few bear pictures from a couple weekends ago. To bad I only had a 200mm lens. I had a 2x which really made them come out really soft. Looks like I'm just going to have to invest in a big prime lens next year.

Didn't end up getting any really good ones but I was really fun watching these three for about 2 hours.

i love the bear on the right in the 3rd pic- looks like it's had a long day!

All are pretty nice, but that third one shows so much personality!
You might consider cropping a half inch or so from the left to lose the OOF thing, and an inch or so from the bottom.

Those are great! Pretty nice for only having a 200mm.

ORLY? I beg to differ!

That 3d one may not be perfectly sharp--but its pretty darn cool!

Nice capture. I think I'd want a 400mm just for the comfort factor. #3 is great!

Beautiful pics Brian, very nice set. Great to see photos of bears in RMNP, they can be elusive.

Number 3 is great. I don't think it needs to be tack sharp, a little contrast adj would make it look strong.

Good stuff :toast:

Nice Capture. Bears are a rare sighting in the park especially three together. Great job.

You were both lucky and capable! Well done. The third one is great.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I guess I just wasn't to happy with the results compared to some of the sharp wildlife shots I see posted on here. Nevertheless it was a cool experience.

And just to clarify these were taken with 200mm with a 2x making it a 400mm. Also all these are cropped quite a bit. I wasn't one of those stupid people trying to get up close and personal.

Again thanks for the comments.

And they look rather like cinnamon black bears which are probably also a little unusual.

Wow, how far are you from them?

"Wow, how far are you from them?"

i'd have to guess about 75-100 yards or so.

Where did you see them exactly

Hi,

I am curious to know where you were in RMNP when you saw these bears?

Thanks.

I saw them on the road to Bear Lake just outside Moraine Park. If you talk to the rangers they have been seeing this mom and cubs all up and down Bear Lake road. There might be several miles difference between sightings.

Hope this helps.
