Hey guys,

My son Luke and I had a great time on the Eastern side this past weekend. It was really cool meeting everyone.:wavey:

The weather was definately on the wild side which is the way I like it in the Fall. On the way to the meetup it snowed hard along the 395. Then right after making the June Lake turn off the skies cleared and it was like the heavens opened. So I stopped along the roadside and took a quick shot. The trees obstructed the view of the lake a bit. But hopefully you can get the idea.

Take a look at the larger image for a better representation:

Same drive for me Derek, I like this shot it has that breaking storm snowy just stopped feel to it. I know it was a quick grab. But sometimes a snap-shot can be great to.

So this is what you were raving about on the phone Derek. It was pretty nice to watch the storm break just in time to make things a little easier. I'm really liking the left side of the photo. The peaks sure look nice back there.

Looks good Derek. Excellent capture for a quick roadside image! It was nice to meet you and your son over the weekend. As I mentioned I've got a similar image from the the June lake beach that I will post one of these days.

Yeah,

I think the image is more documentary and cool for me after seeing the scene in person. I was rushed as it was 11:00 AM when taking it. And the comp isn't the greatest. So I would say I didn't do the scene justice. But I looked really quick for a better lookout over the lake (without trees/brush blocking the view) and couldn't find one.

Does anyone know of a spot with an unobstructed view of June Lake? Just In reviewing this shot I think I may have been able to walk out a bit off road and find something. But I am not really sure.

Hey Mike,

I was actually hoping to see your image from the beach that morning with the fresh snow that you mentioned. Could possibly post it here or in a follow up thread? Of course if you shoot LF then you probably haven't received your slides, scans etc... back yet. But I would imagine you captured a nice view of things from the beach that day.

Derek,

Nice meeting you (again) and your son Luke this weekend. Hope you two had a good trip.

And kudos for seeking out and capturing this image. I've been to June Lake so many times and I've never taken the time to capture a nice image. This is a great perspective and of course the stormy conditions really adds a great element to this.

Technically, I think you could add a bit of contrast, but that's just a personal choice and not meant to "fix" anything.

Excellent scenic from the JLL.

Looks like you all were blessed with some nice cold fall weather.
