First and foremost, forgive the color if its off on the photo, I'm on an uncalibrated laptop and am not terribly sure this wont look like doodoo
Anyway, even in a really bad year (this being the worst in a decade), there were still some very good compositions to be found, and some hidden gems in the San Juans.
Honestly, I still found myself giddy searching through the most beautiful landscape in Colorado even on a down year such as this. There is something special in those wonderful peaks west of Ridgway. Potosi Peak, Teakettle, Sneffles and all those beautiful mountains are inspiring no matter what the setting.
Anyway, here's a quick sample from yesterday's clearing storm up on County Rd 9, literally the last stand of healthy wind-protected aspen and scrub oak left. Thank for looking!
Tough year for fall color, but you've still made the best of it... Nice shot!

Cool. Even in a normal year it would be coming to the tail end of the fall color season in the San Juans. You found a nice spot in an especially difficult year. Congrats!
Nice Bryan! Glad you are still out getting it! Sorry we couldn't hook up last week, but glad you're having a great time!

Yeah, Mike Renner and I spent more time 4-wheeling than anything else Brent
The key to this season was undeniably "compression" shots. Rarely did I even have a chance to break out the wide-angle lens in most situations but that also made for some pretty fun long distance shots which didnt require nearly as much patience regarding that blasted wind. There were some real good spots up on the road to Yankee Boy, and County 5 was really a suprisingly fun time. However, County 7, Last Dollar, and even Ophir were as depressing as I've ever seen.
Ditto Bryan, hardly any wide stuff this year, and Rd 5 was my go to also, went back up several times, even after getting stuck behind blown down trees that Wednesday!

Nice Bryan. I think once you get on a calibrated monitor to make this "all it can be" you'll have a gorgeous image. Looks like I picked a good year to do very little photography close to home from all I've been hearing.
Awesome image Bryan! Love the layering of cold on top with the warm fall colors at the bottom. Glad you got some good images on the last day out there.
Thanks again for letting me ride around with you and showing me some new locations to shoot down there!

Echoing other comments, my wide angle came out to play precisely once this weekend - it's normally never off the camera.
